Sometimes you just need to do something that makes no sense but your heart tells you will bring you joy. I was at Disney Land one weekend on holiday. As we were walking through the park, I was struck by this little girl that was beaming at the sight of Cinderella and one of her fairy godmothers.
Cinderella was dressed in white and blue with her golden hair poofed snooky-like, and the godmother was dressed in blue taffeta with a high-necked collar. They were swooshing their way back to the break area waving and smiling.
The little girl waved and waved and smiled so hopefully, I could not take my eyes from her. She was taking so much joy in seeing her two idols...I was touched...and my heart beamed as widely as the little girls smile.
Later I was thinking about the things that have brought me joy over time and the things that would bring me joy. I heard one of my teachers say that there is the power triad of life, that all souls reach for: growth, freedom and joy. She said that most humans focus on growth, growth and more growth...like it is mandatory. But if you focus on growth, you can get so caught up in achieving growth that you could miss out on the joy or might get so focused that you loose the freedom. She also said if you focus on freedom, you will work to preserve it to the point, you miss out on joy. But if you focus on joy, growth and freedom will also be the result. What a great point, focus on joy. Intend to focus on joy, live in joy, create joy and growth and freedom will flow also.
So, the convergence of these two ideas, create joy and seeing the joy in the little girl - inspired the fairy godmother network. I have been thinking about this for years actually. I have wanted to do something like this for a while. But life circumstances, and maybe a bit of fear and procrastination have held me back. But, I am at a point in my life, where those are not good enough reasons to not take a chance and make a foray into the unknown.
Yes, it is time to create joy! And I feel the fairy godmother network will be a wonderful joy-creating life experience.
